Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Smoothie

I loved the book Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day by Judith Viorst when I was little, and still love it to this day.  I can't tell you how many times I shared it with others (adults and kids) while getting my degree, as well as during my first 2 years of teaching.  It's funny and true and such a fun read!

I don't remember what grade I was in, but one day we watched the video for the book at school, and to this day there's a song in the movie that stands out.  I was so excited when I found the video (broken down into 3 parts, but on there nonetheless) on YouTube.  I re-watched the first part of the video to see if the song I've remembered over the years was an accurate memory or something I just completely made up.

Apparently this elephant-like mind of mine didn't forget because I was spot on.  It's catchy, so the phrase I know and remembered, not to mention have repeated several times in my head over the years, isn't complicated.  For some reason (maybe because I'm packing up my life and moving in less than 5 days....I don't know? :) it's running through my head a lot this morning.

Here's the link to the song in the video. (click the word link...in case that's hard to see)

"So much to do, so little time in the morning!...."

I love this new feature on YouTube where you can link videos starting at a certain time....so I got past the opening credits for you.  I suggest watching it until 2 minutes and 43 seconds.  It's so funny to see what this family does in the morning.  From sit-ups where apparently bending your knees (what?  That's how I do ALL my sit-ups, you crazies!) is a no-no, to squeezing zits and thinking you hear the word 'ovulate'*, it's a rare, but amazing find!

And now it's time for me to go make a Green Monster Smoothie for breakfast and start packing some more watch the whole Alexander video.
Love these for breakfast (& any other time of the day)   Source
*The dad really says 'all be late,' but let me know if you agree with me.  Or if I just need more sleep.

  1. OMG - I forgot about that book!!! Haha, I loved it too, and now it is on my list of books to buy :-) I am a teacher too, and love reading kid's books to my class, even though they are grade 8.
